Ubahlah cara hidup kau.

A novel about a woman named Salina who was driven by poverty to find work as a waitress in Singapore and Malaya (Malaysia) in the 50s.
"Salina, sister, you are speaking sincerely, from your little heart, and you know that to her, you are already like your own sister, consider what this sister says. Change the way you live. Try not to continue to live a life like this."
Salina tells the life of the community, especially the Malays in Kampung Kambing, Singapore, after the Second World War. This novel depicts poverty, moral decay in the city and the struggle to survive in the midst of the destruction of life after the war.
The short Japanese rule in Singapore and the suffering of the people as a result of the war left a strong impression on Samad who was still a child at the time. He recounted the details of that experience to tell the situation of Malays and Indonesians who drifted to wander and become laborers in Singapore.
This is not a completely foreign question in Malay literature, but Samad has shown his artistic ability by painting all these things artistically through the dialogues and behavior of his characters. Humans born in Salina are natural human beings and not those incarnated as puppets with black and white characteristics. Indeed, Samad has strength in this matter because of his meticulous observation of people's characters.
